Southwest, MI. – Buying a home is one of the biggest goals that many of our members have. However, due to external factors it can be difficult for some to achieve this goal. With our purpose in mind, to grow the financial well-being of our members, we have added another solution to help our members find the home of their dreams.

We are excited to announce, Arbor Financial Credit Union has become a certified partner of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). This collaboration allows us to add another mortgage assistance down payment program to our offerings. MSHDA leverages state grant funds, to provide support to qualified borrowers for down payments, closing costs, or prepaid expenses, up to $10,000. All Arbor Mortgage Originators are experienced in the program ensuring they guide borrowers through the process and assess their eligibility closely.

By partnering with MSDHA, we will also be able to help some members claim a Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC). MCC is a federal tax credit issued in connection with the purchase of a home. It allows homebuyers the ability to credit 20% of their annual mortgage interest in their year-end federal income tax liability for up to 30 years.

“We are excited to partner with MSDHA to help grow the financial well-being of our members. Each of our Mortgage lenders is trained in MSDHA and can help see if you qualify. If you qualify, they will work closely with you and your realtor to make sure the process is as seamless as possible.” Says Vice President of Mortgage Lending Susan Weir. Come see why we are one of MSDHA’s preferred lenders!
