Celebrating a Legacy of Service

Tammy Phelps exemplifies distinguished service through her unwavering dedication, steady leadership, and deep commitment to Arbor Financial Credit Union and the communities we serve. As she celebrates 30 years of service this year, her influence is evident across nearly every chapter of Arbor’s growth and evolution.

Tammy began her career in the credit union industry as a teller in the mid 1980s and has dedicated nearly her entire professional life to serving members through financial institutions. Her journey at Arbor reflects a career built on integrity, determination, and a willingness to step forward when opportunity called.

Throughout her career, Tammy has played a key role in expanding Arbor’s footprint and strengthening the member experience, supporting branch openings, renovations, and major operational and technology milestones. She reflected that, “Each experience has been a team effort focused on better serving our members. What means the most to me is not any one project but being part of a team that continues to adapt, improve, and move forward together.”

In addition to her responsibilities as Vice President of Operations, Tammy serves as the head of Arbor’s Caring Committee, a role she has held since the committee’s early years. Through this work, she reinforces Arbor’s culture of compassion, connection, and the credit union philosophy of People Helping People.

When reflecting on her career, Tammy notes that one of her favorite aspects of working at Arbor has been “the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated people who truly care about our members and each other.” She adds, “Being a part of a team that lives out the philosophy of People Helping People every day is something I’ve always valued and appreciated.”

Tammy’s 30 years of service reflect loyalty, resilience, and a deep belief in the credit union philosophy of People Helping People. For her lasting contributions, servant leadership, and unwavering commitment, it is with great appreciation that we recognize Tammy Phelps as this year’s Distinguished Service Award recipient.
